A mat currently costs in the region of £90 including VAT. Therefore:-
- anyone wishing to stay in the house during the winter, the charge for one week would be a minimum of TWO mats plus £50 to cover my expenses for two
people staying (i.e. £115 per person), and ONE extra mat for any additional person. For four persons staying this would work out at £103 per person per
week;
- the charge during spring and autumn would be THREE mats plus £50 for two people staying (i.e. £160 per person) and ONE extra mat for any additional
person. For four persons staying this would work out at £125 per person per week;
- the charge during the summer months when the swimming pool is working would be FIVE mats plus £100 per week to cover my expenses for two people
staying (i.e. £275 per person), and ONE extra mats for any additional person. For four persons staying this would work out at £183 per person per week.
The house is located deep in the countryside in the Cevennes hills, and sleeps six people. It has a swimming pool which is open during June through to the end of August. Getting there is easy – take the Eurostar to Avignon TGV or Nimes, with a transfer either at Lilles Europe or Paris. In the summer months there is a direct train non-stop from London to Avignon Ville. If you book two months in advance the tickets are not expensive. Hire cars are available at the train stations. My village is about an hours drive from Nimes and an hour and a half from Avignon but it would be difficult (although not impossible) to get there without a car. The drive is beautiful through interesting countryside.
It is possible to fly to Nimes, but in the interests of preventing further global warning and for any travellers’ sanity, the train is preferable. One arrives just as quickly if you take into account the time needed to get the relevant airport, queuing, delays, etc, now expected when flying. And you arrive in a more relaxed state by train.
The Cevennes is an old mountain range in the south of France, between Nimes and Montpelier. It is quite a poor region, but steeped in history. People go there for the walking, cycling, camping, wildlife and the scenery. My house is in a quite village, without a bar, café or restaurant of any description so is not the place to stay for anyone looking for a nightlife. The walks are magnificent and the swimming in the river is wonderful.
Spring arrives in the Cevennes in March, summer is from June until the end of August, and the autumn is September and October. That leaves the winter during the months of November through to the end of February.
If anyone is interested, I can send them full details and/or discuss at class.

(CHA Student - ask Saboumnim if you don't know who I am)
I am lucky enough to have a home in a beautiful region in the south of France which I am happy to share with my fellow students. Rather than charge rent, apart from a nominal amount to cover expenses, I am proposing that anyone wishing to book the house pays an amount to the Mat Fund.
Depending on the time of year and the number of people staying, I propose that the charge be based on a number of mats which the charge can buy and that the payment goes directly to Saboumnin who will deposit into the mat fund bank account.
